Shaheen Bagh protest ugly side: Toddler dies in severe cold, mother to continue protest

New Delhi : There are different perspectives on ongoing Shaheen Bagh protest from different set of people but the fact that is true and cannot be ignored is that there are people and they are sitting out in the chilling cold nights of Delhi.

The ugly side of the protest is that people are losing their health and most important time in the fight which is looking aimless with political leaders injecting their own versions to it. To make things worse is the shocking news of death of a toddler in the region.

According to a report by news agency PTI, a toddler died after he acquired a severe cold and congestion following exposure to the winter chill at the protest site.

The boy, Mohammed Jahan, died in his sleep on January 30 after his mother came back with him from the protest site. However, the mother will return to protest to ‘fight for the future of her children,’ PTI reported.

As mentioned in the report, the family did not realize that the congestion was so bad and the child has died. However, the death certificate issued by the hospital does not mention any specific reason for the boy’s death.

On February 4, Shaheen Bagh has entered into its 52nd day of protest. People have blocked the road connecting Delhi to Noida, the act has been causing a lot of troubles for the commuters.

A host of top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, UP CM Yogi Adityanath etc. have targeted the protesters, urging Delhi to vote against ‘anarchists.’
