Sikh cop protects Muslim man from lynching in Uttarakhand

Dehradun : A Sikh police cop in Uttarakhand saved a Muslim man from getting lynched after he was allegedly found with a Hindu girl in a temple.

The couple met in a temple in Girija village, a sparsely populated region, where they were caught by a group of violent men, The Lallantop reported.

In a video that has gone viral on the social media, sub-Inspector Gagandeep Singh can be seen rescuing a boy from the anger of mob who were apparently going to lynch him to death. Another policeman can be seen supporting the sub-inspector and keep the mob away from the boy.

According to the media report, the mob also raised slogans against the police after Gagandeep refused to hand over the boy.

The police told The Lallantop that such an incident had occurred and the mob allegedly comprised members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal. The group had allegedly roughed up the boy and one of his friends by the time police arrived at the scene.

The group also alleged that the couple was "getting intimate," but the police didn't say anything clearly about this allegation.
