Sonia Gandhi hints at retirement, says her innings concludes with 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'
New Delhi : Looks like Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is all set to hang her boots from the Indian politics, however there is no official word on it from the party, but going by her words during a public address in Raipur, it appears like her retirement news may come soon.
Addressing around 15,000 delegates on the second day of the party’s three-day 85th plenary session in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur, Sonia Gandhi claimed that she has a deep satisfaction that her innings is coming to an end with success of 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'.
"Our victories in 2004 and 2009 under the able leadership of Dr Manmohan Singh gave me personal satisfaction, but what makes me happy is that my innings ended with the Bharat Jodo Yatra, a turning point for the Congress," said UPA chief Sonia Gandhi during the public address.
She also congratulated all party workers who worked hard to make Bharat Jodo Yatra a success. "I especially thank Rahul ji, whose determination and leadership were crucial in the Yatra’s success," Sonia Gandhi said.
However, there were no clear words on her participation in the upcoming elections. And with this many people were left guessing if she would run for parliament again from Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli or leave the seat for her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the next Lok Sabha elections.
