New Delhi : So far, we have heard of humans getting laid off from their companies due to various reasons, but now Google’s parent company, Alphabet, has fired around 100 robots, who used to clean its cafeteria at its headquarters. The news comes a month after the tech giant laid off 12,000 human employees. According to a media report, the robots have been shut down by Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

The robots were one-armed wheeled robot who used to clean company's cafeteria. Many of these robots were just prototypes who were transported out of the lab, and we’re doing the duties throughout the Google’s bay area.

The robots were being utilised to clean tables, separate trash and recycle it. The robots also used to clean conference rooms during pandemic days.

Now many of us would be wondering why company has fired robots. Well, the reason is same. The company is cutting cost and for that reason the robotic employees have been rested from the work. The space will be utilised and shared with a partner to maximise office space.

When Google had fired human employees, Sundar Pichai had assured that he will be helping everyone in getting another, better opportunity. But now when robots are fired, is it going to do the same? Jokes apart, tech companies are now firing employees to cut their running cost.
