Telangana : Amid rising cases of coronavirus, Telangana government has announced an extension in complete lockdown till May 30. The state government, however, allowed all activities between 6AM to 10AM.

Earlier, the state government had announced a 10-day lockdown on May 12 to prevent further spread of coronavirus.

The move from the state government was taken after receiving the opinion of the Cabinet Ministers. The chief minister also asked Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to issue guidelines on the extension of the lockdown.

It must be noted that the decision to extend lockdown was to be taken on May 20, but KCR called his ministers on Tuesday and took opinion from them over a call. After taking their opinion into consideration, the chief minister ordered extension of lockdown. This lockdown will come to an end on May 30.

The proposed state cabinet meeting has now been cancelled.

Telangana on Tuesday reported 3,982 COVID-19 cases taking the tally to over 5.36 lakh while the toll stood at 3,012 with 27 casualties.

Speaking to news agency PTI, G Srinivasa Rao, Director of Public Health informed that the state currently has 48,110 active cases.

“We are witnessing a decline in the number of cases and infection rate for the past two weeks. Lockdown is yielding desired results,” he said.
