Telangana Vet Gangrape: Special Court to pace up hearing in the matter

New Delhi : The Telangana Government on Wednesday announced setting up Additional District and Session Judge in Mahabubnagar as a special court for speedy trial in the case of gangrape and murder of 26-year-old veterinarian.

The govt had earlier appealed in the High Court in the same regards.

In the order signed by A Santosh Reddy, secretary to government, legal affairs, legislative affairs and justice, states, “Government after careful examination of the proposal, hereby designate the Court of Additional District & Sessions Judge, Mahabubnagar, as a Special Court for speedy trial of the rape and murder case of the vet.”

Amid severe protests from the people across the nation, CM K Chandrasekhar Rao had assured the speedy trials while tagging the accused as animals in human form. The CM has also assured that all the help will be provided to the family of victim in the matter.

Meanwhile, all the four accused have been kept under the high security Cherlapally jail. They were sent on a 14-day judicial custody by the Shadnagar magistrate on Saturday.

Police have now appealed for a 10-day police custody to interrogate the accused--Areef, Shiva, Naveen and Chennakeshavulu.
