Third wave of coronavirus to be as severe as second wave: Report

New Delhi : India is on its road to recovery from the second wave of coronavirus and the fear is building for the upcoming third wave of coronavirus in the nation. According to a SBI report, the third wave will be as severe as the second wave and will last for approximately 98 days; the only positive thing will be of less fatalities.

The report from the State Bank of India stated that the average duration of the third wave for developed countries was 98 days as against 108 days in the second wave. It also mentioned that if the nation remains better prepared for the third wave then there will be less number of serious cases and fatalities.

Interestingly, the observations in the report come at a time when India is registering more than 1 lakh daily cases of coronavirus. The daily positivity rate in the nation has come down to 6.57 per cent.

The active cases were recorded below 20 lakh for the second consecutive day. The weekly positivity rate has declined to 8.21 per cent.

On the other side the recoveries continue to outnumber daily new cases for the 20th consecutive day. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 2,61,79,085, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.18 per cent.
