New Delhi : A letter threatening to carry out a suicide bomb attack on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his upcoming two-day visit to Kerala has prompted police and security agencies to launch an investigation. The authorities in the state have sounded high alert after the threat letter, which was written in Malayalam and allegedly sent by an individual in Kochi.

It was received by the office of the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), K Surendran, who subsequently turned it over to the police last week.

A person named N K Johny, whose address was mentioned in the letter threatening the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was tracked down by the police. In the letter, it was claimed that PM Modi would suffer the same fate as former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Johny, on the other hand, denied his involvement in the matter. Media reports later mentioned that the investigating cops matched his handwriting with the letter handwriting and were convinced that he was not behind the threat letter.

The state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), K Surendran, has criticized the state police for allegedly leaking the VVIP security plan related to the Prime Minister's visit.

On April 24, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to begin a two-day visit to Kerala, during which he will participate in various events, including the inauguration of the highly anticipated Vande Bharat Express train. The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is responsible for organizing a grand welcome for the Prime Minister. A Facebook poster shared by the BJP state unit announced Modi's visit, referring to him as a "world leader" and revealing plans for a large-scale roadshow in Kochi, which tens of thousands of people are expected to attend.
