Trainee Rape Case: Bengal Governor directs CM Mamata Banerjee to call emergency Cabinet meeting

New Delhi : West Bengal Governor Mr. CV Ananda Bose on Sunday directed Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee to immediately replace the police chief and call an emergency Cabinet meeting.

The Governor feels that the current government is being unable to handle the current law and order situation in the state with continued protests against the rape case of a trainee doctor.

Ongoing protests have been registered at several places in the state with people demanding justice in the matter. The effect can also be seen in the other states with people continuing peaceful protests on the streets.

Meanwhile, the Governor is not happy with Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress over the handling of matter. He said that the government cannot stay silent on matters which are impacting the state with disturbing developments.

He added, "Ostrich-like attitude of the government is not acceptable and the state government must act according to the Constitution and rule of law."

"People must feel that they will get justice from the government. Currently, the feeling is missing among the people of Bengal," the Governor said.

Demands of arrest of all the culprits in the matter is being raised across the state.
