New Delhi : When it comes to spreading rumour, social media is the biggest devil that carves out easy ways for people to banquet things which do not exist.
A similar thing happened with disastrous Kerala Floods that killed hundreds of people and disrupted over thousands lives. Here is a list of rumours that have been making a round in social media these days and also the truth behind them.
Onam Cancelled: A message is being spreaded on WhatsApp saying that Onam has been cancelled by the state government. Well, first of all Onam cannot be cancelled, no one can stop you from celebrating it in your house. In reality, the government has postponed its celebration because of rescue relief that is happening right now in the state.
Cracks on Kerala dam: Another rumour making a round on social media is that a Kerala dam has developed cracks and may open completely anytime. Well, the truth is the dam has not developed any cracks and there is no risk whatsoever. The fact has checked on boom as well.
KSEB to shut permanently: It is being said that the electricity board KSEB is going to shut permanently. However, the truth is that its staff is working day and night to bring situation back to normal. However, they have cut electricity in some parts only for safety measures.
Cell phone number for Navy rescue operation: A number is being circulated with claims that it is a number for Navy rescuers; but the reality is there is no such number, only way to get help is getting connected with the disaster management.
Imposter video: A video is being shared where a person disguised as an Army Man says Kerala does not need money or articles it can manage on its own. Well, the truth is Kerala need all your help and Indian Army has confirmed that the video is fake.
