Kolkata : Union minister V Muraleedharan on Thursday alleged that his convoy was attacked by TMC goons during his visit to the state. He also posted a video clip of the attack.

Sharing the video on social media, he wrote, "TMC goons attacked my convoy in West Midnapore, broken windows, attacked personal staff. Cutting short my trip".

In the video, his convoy can be seen stopped by men carrying. As the video progresses, we can see a broken windscreen at the back of the vehicle.

"If a minister's convoy can be attacked, then who is safe in Bengal? This is state-sponsored violence. We condemn violence in Bengal. Special measures should be taken to bring the culprits to justice," Union Minister and BJP leader Prakash Javadekar was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

BJP President JP Nadda, who is on two-day visit, to the state mentioned that 14 BJP workers have been killed and more than 1 lakh people have fled their homes due to violence in the state.

Chief Minster Mamata Banerjee "has blood on her hands", added Mr Nadda, who is also meeting the violence-hit families.

Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee took oath as the Chief Minister of the state for the third time of Wednesday. She urged people to remain calm, avoid violence and said law and order is a priority.

"I appeal to all political parties to maintain peace. Bengal does not like violence. Please take proper care that there is no violence," Ms Banerjee has said.
