Diwali gift for Rahul Gandhi, may replace Sonia Gandhi as Congress chief

New Delhi : This Diwali will give Rahul Gandhi a much awaited promotion in the party, as per latest information, he is likely to replace mother Sonia Gandhi as the chief of Congress party. 

While Congress leader and a close friend of Rahul Gandhi Milind Deora had been claiming the elevation soon, Sachin Pilot on Sunday indicated that the move is likely to happen soon after celebration of Diwali.

In an interview to a leading daily newspaper (The Hindu) Mr Deora said, “Everyone across the party wants that the buck should stop with him.”

In a separate interview to the new agency, PTI, Sachin Pilot said, “Organisational elections of the Congress are underway and the new President could take over shortly after Diwali. It has been something that has been in the pipeline for a long time.”

Though Mr Pilot did not name anyone for the post, but since Rahul Gandhi's name had been a constant for past three years now, it is likely that he will be the one who gets the post after Diwali this year.
