I will not be involved in the process to select Congress chief: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi : Congress President Rahul Gandhi has cornered himself from the process of selection of new party chief to avoid complications and to ensure “accountability in the system”.

“I am not going to get involved in that process, otherwise it will complicate things and the party has to decide,” Rahul Gandhi told NDTV.

He also claimed that he is determined to take responsibility and quit as Congress party chief and he is not changing his mind anytime soon.

Rahul has stepped down as the chief of Congress following the party’s poor performance in Lok Sabha elections as he took the full responsibility for the fiasco.

However, the senior Congress leaders have rejected his resignation, asking him to continue as the chief of the party.

Party spokesperson R S Surjewala had insisted that only Rahul “was, is and will be” the party chief.

Rahul is reported to be adamant on having a non-Gandhi installed as the Party head.
