If Rahul Gandhi quits, he falls into a trap of BJP: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

New Delhi : Taking responsibility of a huge poll defeat, Rahul Gandhi offered to resign from the post of the party President. However, the party rejected his offer and claimed that there is no one in the party who can step into his shoes.

After several leaders comforting him to not quit, his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that Rahul Gandhi will be falling into a trap of BJP is he does quit.

The Congress Working Committee members rejected his offer, saying that he has full freedom to take all measures of saving the party.

Interestingly, Rahul Gandhi offered that any leader can become the party president and it is not mandatory that anyone from his family should lead the party.

According to a source quoted in a news report, when one of the participants quizzed who can replace Rahul Gandhi as the chief of the party, he interjected, "Why only us?" Rahul Gandhi apparently said that anyone from the party can choose to take up the position.

The report also added that the BJP and RSS wanted him to quit as the President of Congress as he was fighting against them. Rahul Gandhi has also been told that none of the Congress leader is blaming him for the defeat.

Rahul Gandhi lost the election from his Lok Sabha constituency too, but managed a win from his another constituency seat Waynad.
