New Delhi : Amid prevailing tension between India and Pakistan, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora on Friday said that the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls 2019 will be held on time.

The tension between India and Pakistan escalated after Indian fighter jets Mirage 2000 struck down Jaish-e-Mohammed’s (JeM) biggest training camp near Balakot deep inside Pakistan on Tuesday.

On Thursday, CEC held meetings with the district magistrates and other officials of Uttar Pradesh and reviewed the preparations for the polls.

The CEC also said that sensitive places should be identified, and communal amity at those places should be enhanced. Apart from this, CCTV cameras should be installed at sensitive polling centres, and such centres should be identified well in advance.

He asked to impose strict implementation of Election Commissions rule, he said strict action will be taken the officials showing laxity. District magistrates, divisional commissioners, superintendent of police and other senior police officials were present at the meeting.
