New Delhi : Revising norms, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, on Friday said passengers will be allowed to cancel or make changes to the ticket without paying extra charges.

“The airline shall provide “Look-in option” for a period of 24 hours after booking ticket. During this period passenger can cancel or amend the ticket without any additional charges, except for the normal prevailing fare for the revised flight for which the ticket is sought to be amended,” the DGCA said in its circular said.

Some changes under new norms include:

1) As per new norms, a passenger can now make name corrections free of cost within 24 hours of booking the ticket.

2) Now, travellers can also claim compensation of Rs 5,000-10,000 if they miss their flight. However, this depends on the flight duration, and the ticket must be on the same PNR.

3) Also, if in any case baggage is misplaced by an airline, passengers can claim compensation of Rs 350 per kg up to Rs 20,000. Earlier, travellers could claim compensation of Rs 3,000 only.
