Mamata Banerjee challenges Aadhaar in Supreme Court, hearing on Monday

Kolkata : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has challenged mandatory Aadhaar Card rule by Centre in Supreme Court. The hearing on the case has been scheduled for Monday.

Earlier, Mamata Banerjee had announced that she would rather disconnect her mobile number than mandatory linking her Aadhaar card to it.

"I will not link #Aadhaar with my phone, if they want to disconnect my phone, let them," Ms Banerjee said defiantly, addressing her Trinamool Congress party's core committee meeting.

As per the new guidelines issued by the government, all mobile users are required to link their Aadhaar Card to their mobile numbers to avoid disconnection.

The Aadhaar Card has also been made mandatory for the users who wish to buy a new mobile connection on their name.
