New Delhi : Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has been accorded permission to attend the opening ceremony of Kartarpur corridor on November 9.

According to a news report by PTI, the Centre has granted him political clearance travel to Pakistan. However, it has been learned that he may only travel as part of the first jatha going from India to Pakistan for the pilgrimage to Kartarpur Gurudwara, which is the final resting place of first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev.

The first jatha will also be having the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who will be taking part as the pilgrims and not the politicians.

The permission came after Navjot Singh Sidhu wrote a letter to the centre questioning the time long wait in reply to his request.

Navjot Singh Sidhu had faced political wrath after he had hugged Pakistan Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa during the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Imran Khan in August last year.

On November 4, Pakistan had sent an invite, bearing the serial number '0001', to Navjot Singh Sidhu to attend the opening ceremony of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.
