Jaipur : Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) patron Sharad Yadav announced on Monday that his party will ally with the Congress in Rajasthan's Assembly elections to unseat the BJP government.

Yadav launched the LJD after breaking terms with his earlier party, the Janata Dal-United, as it went back to the National Democratic Alliance.

Addressing a press conference here, Yadav said: "We will have an alliance with the Congress. At this point of time, all (opposition) political parties want to work together for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections."

He said the people of Rajasthan gave a strong mandate to Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in 2013.

However, instead of working for the people, she was busy taking out 'Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra' when the state was plagued with challenges of mob lynching, unemployment and farmers' suicide, he said.

He called the yatra a waste of funds, efforts and time.

Yadav said anyone can be the Prime Minister and what was vital for now was to sink all differences to save "our democracy and Constitution as it is in danger from (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi".
