New Delhi : Back in 1990s, Cadbury had made an ad for its chocolate Dairy Milk that had won hearts then and now they have recreated the same ad with a twist and it is winning hearts now as well.

Earlier, the company had featured model Shimona Rashi, who was shown sitting in the audience of a cricket match and eating chocolate as a cricketer hits winning six; she then zoomed past security to celebrate with a dance on-field while the "asli swaad zindagi ka" tagline played in the background. The motive behind the ad was to end the perception that chocolates were only meant for children.

Now, after three decades, the company has recreated the ad; not much has been changed in it except the gender. This time the same thing happens in a women's cricket match and a man is shown eating the chocolate.

In India, cricket is believed to be a game for men and looks like the company is again trying to change the perception with their re-created advertisement. Social media users were quick to notice Cadbury's nod to its iconic advertisement and praised the company for turning gender roles on their head.

"Take a bow, Cadbury Dairy Milk and Ogilvy," communications consultant Karthik Srinivasan wrote while sharing the two ad films. "A simple, obvious twist that was long overdue, and staring right at all of us all this while!" he added.
