Mumbai : After 10 days of Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, Eman Ahmed is down to 358 kgs. While her condition remains fairly stable, her high uric acid levels remain a challenge for the team of doctors treating her.

Bariatric surgeon Dr Muffazal Lakdawala, said she is unlikely to be sent back home anytime soon. "We will wait for the results of her genetic test. Once she starts breathing constantly on her own then it will be safe to send her back. We don't want to risk her health after all this hard work.

The Egyptian national is currently on a 2-hour liquid feeding regime that starts at 6 am and continues till 12 pm.

Her sister Shaimaa who is accompanying her, and is living in the room right next to Eman at Saifee, is keeping bedside vigil.

Once Eman is out of the woods then she might go to Egypt for 10 days to see her child.

While Eman's treatment with diuretics and protein therapy continues to help her lose weight, the rate of weight loss is expected to be slow now. She is unlikely to need surgical intervention anytime soon.
