Now, a drug that kills cravings for alcohol at evening

Adelaide : A new drug has been formed that is capable of handling with the cravings of evening alcohol need of your body. It tweaks the immune system in a way that the brain gets distracted from the desire, says a study.

The tests which were conducted on mice showed a drastic decline in alcohol drinking behaviour especially during the nights in their results.

The University Of Adelaide in South Australia researchers conducted the study on mice and switched off the impulse to drink alcohol by giving mice a drug that blocks a specific response from the immune system in the brain.

They were focusing on the reaction of it on the brain's immunity and desire to drink alcohol at night.

The team focussed their attention on the immune receptor Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). They administered the drug (+)-Naltrexone (pronounced: PLUS-NAL-TREX-OWN), which is known to block TLR4, to mice.

The conclusion says that with a little tweak in the brain immune system, it is possible substantially decrease the motivation to drink alcohol in the evening. However, the test is yet to tested on a human body.

The research appeared in the journal - Brain, Behavior and Immunity.
