New Delhi : There is no doubt that egg is one of the most nutritious food items available on the planet. Majorly all required nutrients are present in it and including an egg in your breakfast meal can keep you healthy and maintain your weight.

Consumption of three to six eggs per week can keep your heart healthy, finds a new study.

The study was conducted by Xia and her colleagues from Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. During the study they found a U-shaped relationships between egg consumption and the risks of incident CVD and total death among general Chinese, and those consumed 3-6 eggs/week were at the lowest risk.

Consumption of more than 1 egg/week was associated with 22% higher risk for incident CVD and 29% higher risk for total death; on the other hand, consumption of less than 10 eggs/week was associated with 39% and 13 % higher risk for incident CVD and total death, respectively.

For the study, a total of 102,136 participants from 15 provinces across China were included. After a follow up of up to 17 years, 4848 cases of incident CVD (including 1273 CHD and 2919 strokes), and 5511 total deaths were identified, with over 90% follow-up rate.

The study was performed mainly for the learning on how eggs can affect the CVD in Chinese.

Meanwhile, the researchers have also found that in cases where people were eating many eggs thinking it will be beneficial for their healths, it was found that they ended up having dietary cholesterol which impacted negatively.

So, moderate consumption of eggs remains the key.
