Meet Meraj Husain, a social activist who has been recognised for his many positive contributions to the environment with awards such as the Mother Teresa Award
New Delhi : Meraj Husain, a social activist, was one of the people who helped start the "Only One Earth" campaign and took up the cause of cleaning up Dal Lake. Other people who helped start the campaign include the former chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdulla and Omar Abdulla. When the COVID restrictions were finally lifted, Kashmir quickly became the most visited tourist destination in the entire world. As a result, it is absolutely necessary to immediately begin cleaning up Dal Lake. Meraj Hussain and his team have vowed to uphold their end of the bargain and ensure that Dal Lake is kept tidy and in good condition. More than five hundred additional volunteers joined him, and together they proceeded to shake the trash cans that were mounted on all of the shikhara boats so that the trash could be collected instead of being dumped into the lake.
In addition to that, he had the opportunity to have a conversation with Mr. Shompi Sharp, who is the UN Resident Coordinator for India. Meraj was presented with an award by Mr. Sharp in recognition of his contributions to a number of projects that are currently being carried out all over India. These projects include the cleanup of beaches and mangroves, the planting of trees, the protection of marine life, and the management of waste in collaboration with volunteers from all over the nation.
Meraj Husain, an activist for social justice, was honoured with the prestigious Mother Teresa award by Abu Dhabi. The award was bestowed upon Husain in recognition of him Achieving Milestones in Environment and Sustainability. Meraj Husain was honoured for all that he has accomplished by receiving the prestigious award, which was given to him by HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This noteworthy achievement represents the widespread recognition that this unassuming environmentalist has received. In general, this environmentalist prefers to let his work speak for itself, so this accomplishment is particularly significant.
