Sun may destroy Earth in future, but no need to panic. Read why

New Delhi : As the Sun will reach its end, it will destroy Earth and other planets in our solar system, claimed a study. The observations have been made on the basis of how of a red giant star outside of our solar system is acting as it is in the process of dying.

'Gruise' star, nearly 500 light years away from Earth, has been captured with the help of very large telescope in the European Space Observatory.

As per observations it has been learned that stars, which are giant masses of hydrogen, burn through their reserves, shrink and become extremely hot. The expansion process continues resulting in it becoming hundreds of time its original size, but with a thinner density.

With the sun shedding its outer layers over tens of thousands of years, creating a nebula, the liquid on Earth, particularly in the form of oceans will boil, clogging the atmosphere with nitrogen and carbon dioxide. As a result, life on Earth will cease to exist even before the solar explosion destroys the entire solar system.

It may sound scary, but this is still no reason for us to panic as scientists have claimed that the process will take nothing less than five billion years before the Sun turns into a red giant.
