The Punjab government on Thursday sent more than 259 tonnes of food items for the flood-hit people of Kerala, officials said.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday assured the people battered by floods that his government will do everything possible to help them start life anew.

The global software major's philanthropic arm, Infosys Foundation, has rushed relief material to Karnataka's flood-hit Kodagu district and Kerala, said its Chairperson Sudha Murthy on Thursday.

The Goa government on Thursday sanctioned Rs 5 crore as the state's contribution towards the Kerala Chief Minister's relief fund for the state's flood relief operations, a Goa Chief Minister's Office statement said.

Relief works, including food supply to about 7,000 people in 51 camps, repair of roads and highways and restoration of phone and power lines in Karnataka's flood-hit Kodagu district were intensified, while schools would reopen on Thursday, said an official on Wednesday.

India on Wednesday politely declined financial aid from other countries to flood-devastated Kerala where 370 people have died so far.
