New Delhi : Team India's all-rounder Hardik Pandya has once again been given the responsibility to lead squad in T20 Series against Sri Lanka starting from January 3 in Mumbai. Interestingly, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul have been removed from the T20I squad. For the ODIs, Rohit Sharma will return and take the charge as the captain. The ODI series will start from January 10 onwards.

In a major development, Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed as the vice captain for the side in T20I series. And Hardik Pandya will be the vice captain for the ODI series with Rohit Sharma as a captain.

It must be noted that Rohit Sharma has been suffering from a thumb injury. BCCI has not released any official statement which states that Hardik Pandya's appointment is a permanent one or it is just for one series.

Rishabh Pant dropped from T20Is and ODIs

The most noticeable name that has been dropped from the squad is Rishabh Pant. He has not been included in both T20Is and ODIs. However, he was a part of Test winning squad against Bangladesh. According to news agency PTI, Pant has been asked to report at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for a knee strengthening rehabilitation programme for two weeks. Hence, he will miss the entire Sri Lanka series.

Shikhar Dhawan goes missing

Another big name that is missing from the squad is Shikhar Dhawan and ironically he was leading the side recently in New Zealand but he has not been included in the current Sri Lanka series by the BCCI.
