Hardik Pandya to lead team India in T20I series against Afghanistan
New Delhi : India's T20I skipper Hardik Pandya is expected to lead team India in the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan, which will be played in the home turf. He had suffered an ankle injury during the ICC ODI World Cup.
Hardik Pandya sustained a heel injury against Bangladesh in ODI World Cup 2023 and was ruled out midway into the tournament.
Due to his injury, he had also missed T20I series against Australia and India's tour to South Africa. According to media reports, he will remain available to lead Mumbai Indians in the upcoming Indian Premier League season. He has replaced Rohit Sharma as captain in the Mumbai Indians side.
A media report has also mentioned that the all-rounder player has recovered from his ankle injury completely and he has been practicing daily in the nets.
Earlier, it was reported that Hardik Pandya may miss T20I series against Afghanistan and IPL 2024 as well.
