New Delhi : Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been rested for the third and final match of ongoing India vs South Africa T20I series. According to a media report, he has been given rest for the final game after Men in Blue took an unassailable lead against South Africa in the three-match series.

The report also mentioned that Virat Kohli left for Mumbai after concluding the match in Guwahati. He will now rejoin the squad when the team will leave for Australia to take part in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.

Team India is scheduled to leave for Australia on October 6.

In the series against South Africa, the Indian batter has shown tremendous form. In the second T20I game, he scored an unbeaten 49 off 28 balls. Team India won the game by 16 runs.

Earlier, Virat Kohli had taken a month break from cricket before joining the squad again for Asia Cup 2022.

Since the Asia Cup, Kohli has amassed 404 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 141.75, including three fifties and a hundred.
