India vs West Indies: Rishabh Pant speaks over Dhoni chants in stadium

Chennai : During the first ODI against West Indies, Indian batsman Rishabh Pant was mocked by fans at several occasions with chants like 'Dhoni-Dhoni' while he managed a good score of 71 runs.

However, Rishabh Pant's career-best knock could not be capitalized in favour of team India and West Indies registered a comfortable win by 8 wickets against the hosts.

The 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman top-scored for India after they lost Virat Kohli and KL Rahul cheaply and chants of Rishabh Pant filled the stadium following an impressive show.

After the completion of match, Rishabh Pant thanked the crowd of Chennai stadium and spoke about his feelings when he entered the stadium amid chants of Dhoni Dhoni.

"Sometimes it's important when crowd supports you. From an individual point of view, I was trying to improve myself every day but I wasn't getting there. I am not saying I got there, but I try to improve." Pant said at the post-match press conference.

Pant has been under severe criticism from both the fans and the critics for his lose attitude of losing wickets at the crucial situations.

In the three-match T20 International series against the West Indies that India won 2-1, Pant lost his wicket for a duck in the third and final match after having managed to score 33 (not out) and 18 in first two matches.

India will now face West Indies for the second ODI in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
