Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test: Bangladesh creates history in 1st Test, beat Pakistan by 10 wickets
Rawalpindi : Somethings take time to happen and when they happen it not only shocks the people on receiving end but also the spectators. Bangladesh cricket team did a similar thing on Sunday when they scripted history by defeating Pakistan in the 1st Test match by 10 wickets.
Before Sunday, Bangladesh and Pakistan have played 13 Test matches in the past; out of them Pakistan has won in 12 games and one match ended in a draw. It must be noted that with this victory Bangladesh has also achieved a feat of beating almost every cricket playing nation sans India and South Africa in the longest form of the game.
This was also Bangladesh's first ever 10-wicket win in Test matches in the history. Before this, they had the biggest margin of winning a game by eight wickets against New Zealand in 2022.
While Bangladesh celebrates their first 10-wicket win; it is nothing less than a shocker and tragic moment for Pakistan cricket as this is the first time when they have faced 10-wicket defeat against any team in their home turf.
Bangladesh's bowlers shone as Pakistan crumbled to 146 all out on the final day. Spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan, a former lawmaker under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, claimed seven wickets, while the pace bowlers dismantled the top order. Openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam reached 30/0 by tea. Pakistan, despite a first innings declaration at 448/6 and conceding a 117-run lead, faltered after resuming at 23/1, still 94 runs behind. Mohammad Rizwan's 51 was the lone resistance as Bangladesh's disciplined attack sealed the victory.
