New Delhi : Rohit Sharma was seen walking off the field moments after he was struck by a ball on the leg during practice session. There have been a lot of assumptions being made over his health as he did not return to the field later in the day.

The BCCI has now officially issued a statement giving an update on his injury.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement saying Rohit is fine and will lead the team in the first T20. “Rohit Sharma was hit in the left side of his abdomen while batting in the nets today. BCCI medical team has confirmed that he is fit and available for the first T20 against Bangladesh after assessment of his injury,” the statement read.

Rohit was struck on the leg during India’s net session when he was batting against India’s throwdown specialist Nuwan Seneviratne.

Nuwan Seneviratne is a Sri Lankan throwdown specialist who was roped in by Team India ahead of 2018 Asia Cup in Dubai. He has played only two first class matches but has quite name as a throwdown specialist.
