New Delhi : The ODI World Cup 2023 is likely to begin on October 5 and end on November 19. According to a media report, BCCI has also shortlisted a dozen of venues for the event with the final game scheduled to be played at the world's largest cricket stadium – Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

Apart from Ahmedabad, the likely venues for the event are at Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot and Mumbai. The 46-day long event will see 48 matches between teams of 10 nations.

BCCI has only mentioned about the final game's venue and is yet to announce the specific schedule for all the games and their respective venues. The delay in deciding venues is due to chances of rains during that time as monsoon season may interrupt the event.

In normal days, ICC announces the tournament dates atleast a year in advance. But, this year the delay happened as the international cricketing body was waiting for BCCI to get two major approvals from the Indian government – first the tax exemption for the tournament and visa for Pakistan players, who have not played any game in India other than ICC events.

In a recently held ICC quarterly meeting, BCCI had assured that the visas for the Pakistan players will be cleared from the Indian government. BCCI is also expected to update the ICC soon on exact position of the Indian government on tax exemption.
