Yashasvi Jaiswal smashes IPL's fastest fifty, breaks KL Rahul's record

New Delhi : In an IPL 2023 match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opener for the Rajasthan Royals, achieved a remarkable feat by scoring the fastest fifty in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He achieved this incredible milestone by smashing a half-century in just 13 balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday. Jaiswal surpassed the previous record held by KL Rahul, who had accomplished a 14-ball fifty for the Punjab Kings against the Delhi Capitals during IPL 2018.

During IPL 2022, Pat Cummins, the Australian pacer representing the Kolkata Knight Riders, also achieved a 14-ball fifty against the Mumbai Indians. On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased an outstanding performance by scoring an unbeaten 98 runs off 47 balls, including 5 sixes and 12 fours.

This remarkable innings not only made Jaiswal the first and only batter to score over 20 runs in the first over of an innings twice but also showcased his consistency and power-hitting abilities. In the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Jaiswal smashed 26 runs in Nitish Rana's first over, while in a previous IPL 2023 encounter, he had hammered 20 runs in a single over against the Delhi Capitals.

Rajasthan Royals secured an impressive victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders, thanks to the outstanding performances of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson. Jaiswal's exceptional innings, combined with Samson's quickfire 48 off just 29 balls, led the Royals to a comprehensive nine-wicket win with more than six overs to spare. Before the batting heroics, RR's leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal put up an impressive show, claiming figures of 4/25. This exceptional bowling performance not only earned him the prestigious Purple Cap but also saw him surpass Dwayne Bravo to become the highest wicket-taker in IPL history.
