India beats Belgium to claim junior hockey world cup
New Delhi : Super Sunday for Indian hockey fans as team India defeated Belgium 2-1 in the summit clash to win junior hockey world cup in Delhi at Major Dhyanchand stadium.
India started the game on an aggressive note as Gurjant Singh broke the deadlock in first eight minute of the match. After 14 minutes, Simranjeet Singh doubled the Indian lead.
India had won their first junior title in 2001 against Argentina 6-1 at Hobart in Australia.
With current victory, India had become the second nation after Germany to win the title more than once .
