IPL 2019: MS Dhoni's controversial run out - a game changer for Mumbai Indians

New Delhi : It took seven weeks of quality cricket to dig out Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians for the final battle of the IPL 2019. With elements which could make you skip heart beats, the game was a last ball decider with nail-biting thrilling moments.

With Mumbai Indians battling line up not doing any wonders and Chennai Super Kings getting a good start, all the pressure was on the MI bowlers. Making a comeback in the game, the Mumbai Indians picked up some crucial wickets of Chennai Super Kings in the middle over; preponing MS Dhoni's entry in the game.

CSK needed a knock from MS Dhoni for which he is famous. Call it the game pressure or a misjudgement, Dhoni tried to snatch an extra run on over throw and the decision costed him his wicket.

Rohit Sharma had placed Hardik Pandya on to the bowling attack; with Shane Watson failing to time the ball, the players took a comfortable single but Malinga at the fine leg could not suppress the urge to take a hit. Dhoni sensed it as an opportunity to pinch another single but that proved to be his undoing.

Ishan Kishan was backing up and he managed to get the direct hit. Dhoni seemed confident that he had survived but replays showed that it was close. The TV umpire checked it from various angles but no one was able to clearly tell if Dhoni was out or not out.

Going by one camera angle that shown Dhoni missing the crease by micro milimeters, the umpires called it out. Even commentators were not sure about the decision. This was a huge decision in the context of the match and there was a lot of debate if former Indian captain was out or not.

Soon after the decision, the commentators were heard saying that this decision will remain a topic of debate among the fans of two sides for next one year.

Mumbai Indians later managed to score a victory by just one run against the Chennai Super Kings.
