IPL 2020: Chennai Super Kings face 10-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders
Abu Dhabi : In a match that was almost in Chennai Super Kings control, the team faced a 10-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi. Chasing 167-run target set by KKR, CSK had scored 90 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in first 10 overs. But then, wickets of Ambati Rayudu (30 off 27) and Shane Watson (50 off 40) in consecutive overs turned the match in KKR's favour as a relatively untested middle order of MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav and Sam Curran failed spectacularly to see CSK limited to 157/5.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni failed to stay long on the crease and left for 11 off 12 balls, Jadhav on the other hand kept refusing extra runs between the wickets and also failed in hitting big shots, leading to a complete disaster for the team in the game.
More wickets in the 13th and 14th over devastated the situation for Chennai Super Kings and the result is already mentioned.
Earlier, Dinesh Karthik won the toss and opted to bat and Rahul Tripathi made full use of his promotion to the top of the order with an anchoring innings of 81 off 51 and had short bursts of support from Narine (17 off 9), who batted at four, and Pat Cummins (17 off 9) even as both Eoin Morgan (7) and Russell (2) had an off day.
Dwayne Bravo returned 3/37 for CSK while Karn Sharma, Shardul Thakur and Sam Curran got two wickets each.
