IPL 2020 to be played in UAE this year: Report
Dubai : The much-awaited 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played in the United Arab Emirates this year, the IPL governing council chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed on Tuesday.
The IPL 2020 was slated to begin in March this year but was delayed due to unfavourable conditions amid coronavirus pandemic and lockdowns across the world.
"IPL 2020 which was postponed due to coronavirus will now be held in UAE," Patel told ANI.
He also said that the Board of Cricket in Control for India (BCCI) has applied for government permission and further course of action will be discussed in IPL governing council meeting.
"In IPL GC will discuss the further course of action," said Patel.
Earlier, on Monday, ICC had announced a delay in the T20 World Cup event of men due to coronavirus. The T20 World Cup was slated to be played in October-November in Australia this year.
