New Delhi : Chennai Super Kings star batsman Suresh Raina will not be playing the upcoming season of Indian Premier League and has returned to India from UAE amid personal reasons, CSK tweeted on Saturday morning.

"Suresh Raina has returned to India for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of the IPL season. Chennai Super Kings offers complete support to Suresh and his family during this time," CSK CEO KS Viswanathan was quoted as saying on the team's official Twitter handle.

Suresh Raina had announced his retirement from the international cricket on August 15, hours after former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had announced of hanging his boots.

The upcoming IPL season is set to begin on September 19 with Chennai Super Kings taking on defending champions Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener.
