Suryakumar sacrifices his wicket for Rohit Sharma, end result in Mumbai's favour

Abu Dhabi : Defending champion Mumbai Indians retained the IPL title with a thumping win over Delhi Capitals on Tuesday and it came with a lot of sacrifices, amongst one of them was Suryakumar selflessly giving away his wicket for Rohit Sharma in a mix-up between the creases.

Delhi Capitals had set a fighting total of 157 runs for Mumbai Indians in the final game of the Indian Premier League on Tuesday. Chasing the target, MI openers started the game in no mood to give respite to the opposition's bowlers.

After a fiery start by Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock, Suryakumar came to bat with Rohit Sharma. Both Rohit and Yadav started piling runs before an unfortunate run-out resulted in the latter's dismissal.

It was the 11th over when Rohit punched the ball to covers and set off for a quick single. However, Yadav was not interested in the run as he stood his ground. Rohit almost reached the non-striker's end and the throw went to the keeper's end which is why Yadav sacrificed himself valiantly by crossing over and awarding his captain a lifeline. Yadav ended up scoring 19 runs off 20 balls.

Twitter is now going gaga over Suryakumar's selfless act for the team. Check some of them below:

The Suryakumar Yadav Dream11 IPL stats for 2020 have been spectacular. The Mumbai batsman scored 480 runs in 16 matches at a stunning average of 40.00 and strike-rate of 145.01. He also ended as the third-highest run-scorer for his side behind Ishan Kishan (516) and Quinton de Kock (503).
