BCCI announces Indian squad for T20I series against West Indies: Tilak Varma in, Rinku Singh excluded
New Delhi : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian Team that will play in the five-match T20I series against West Indies. The selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, has made some notable decisions, including the inclusion of Tilak Varma, who has earned his place with impressive performances for the Mumbai Indians in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
However, Rinku Singh, despite being one of the top run-scorers in the domestic circuit, did not find a spot in the squad. The BCCI's decision to overlook Singh has raised eyebrows among cricket enthusiasts and sparked discussions about the selection process.
The Indian team, led by Hardik Pandya as captain, will have Suryakumar Yadav as his deputy. The opening pair is expected to consist of the talented duo Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who showcased their exceptional skills while playing for the Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals, respectively, in the recently concluded 16th season of the IPL.
The selection committee has also brought in fresh faces, with the inclusion of Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, and Ravi Bishnoi, who have been given an opportunity to showcase their abilities at the international level.
