BJP calls Sania Pakistan’s daughter-in-law, tennis star hits back

• On Thursday, a Telangana BJP leader branded Sania Mirza as Pakistan’s daughter in law
• The comment came over the news of Sania being referred as Telangana brand ambassador
• Via Twitter, Sania Mirza cleared her stand and said she was and is the daughter of India
• “It hurts me that so much precious time of prominent politicians and the media is being wasted on a petty issue of my being,” tweeted Sania
• She also made many tweets justifying herself as true Indian  
• Seeing the growing outrage, BJP switched them to damage control mode
• The party then called her the pride of the nation
