New Delhi : Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson was fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over rate during the CSK vs RR IPL 2023 match, another player from the franchise had to face the fine for not keeping calm and criticising umpires for their on field decision of changing the ball due to dew.

Ravichandran Ashwin has been fined 25% of his match fees for allegedly criticising umpires' decision to change the ball on their own without consulting players considering due on the field. During the post presentation, Ashwin said that he is quite surprised to see how umpires changed the ball for dew on their own. It has never happened before and he is quite surprised with the decision.

"Rajasthan Royal's skipper has been fined 25% of his match fees for breaching the IPL code of conduct," read a statement from IPL.

Ashwin has admitted to offence under Article 2.7 which prohibits players from criticising the match officials.

"Ashwin admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.7 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding," the statement further read.

What is Article 2.7?

As per Article 2.7 of IPL Code of Conduct: "Public criticism of, or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in a Match or any Player, Team Official, Match Official or Team participating in any Match, irrespective of when such criticism or inappropriate comment is made."
