Delhi : The ROG Phone 7 and the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, the latest monstrous gaming phone pair from Asus, were introduced today. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor powers both devices, which may have up to 16GB of LPDDR5X (8533Hz) RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

How, therefore, is the Ultimate superior to the vanilla? It boasts the recognisable ROG Vision display on the rear and the AeroActive portal, which opens to let air straight onto the built-in vapour chamber.

On its new flagships, Asus claims of significant improvements to gaming performance. With a Boron Nitride layer, two graphite sheets with a total area of 16,000 mm2, a Rapid-cycle Vapour Chamber, and the 15% efficiency boost that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 offers, the GameCool7 cooling system is larger and better.

You will receive consistent gaming performance that is unsurpassed by any other phone when all of it is paired with Asus' X Mode and the new AeroActive Cooler 7, both of which will be included in the Ultimate's box. Speaking of, the ROG Phone 7's stereo speakers are combined with the new AeroActive Cooler 7's built-in 5-magnet super linear subwoofer to provide 2.1 audio with more powerful bass. The cooler includes a 3.5mm headphone socket with Dirac tuning, much like the phones do.

The ROG Phone 7 pair has the recognisable AirTrigger ultrasonic shoulder controllers and supports motions like Gyroscope Aiming, Dual Action, and Press and Lift. Vibration mapping from the X-axis linear vibration motor produces lifelike haptic feedback for on-screen buttons and actions.

Ray tracing is another feature that the ROG Phone 7 can enable in certain games, giving you more realistic reflections on water and metal surfaces.

Display: Asus ROG Phone 7

The 6.78-inch 2448x1080px AMOLED display on the ROG Phone 7 is built by Samsung and has a peak brightness of 1,500 nits, making it significantly brighter than its predecessor. The display can handle a touch sampling rate of 720Hz and a customizable refresh rate of up to 165Hz.

The 7 has a 6,000mAh battery, which is divided into two equal 3,000mAh portions to enhance cooling, and 65W charging, just like the previous generation of ROG Phones. The new chipset should also offer a welcome increase in durability.

Camera Setup: Asus ROG Phone 7

Asus mostly maintained the same camera setup. It still has a 50MP IMX766 primary camera, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a specialised 5MP macro camera on the rear. The 32MP OmniVision OV32C Quad-Bayer sensor in the front camera produces 8MP photos.

The Asus ROG Phone 7 weighs 239g and has dimensions of 173 x 77 x 10.4mm. Phantom Black and Storm White are available for the standard 7 whereas Storm White is the sole colour available for the Ultimate. Both have splash resistance ratings of IP54.

Through Asus' online shop and retail partners, the ROG Phone 7 is now up for pre-order in Europe and Taiwan. The ROG Phone 7 Ultimate costs €1,399 and comes with an AeroActive Cooler, whilst the vanilla 7 costs €999 but doesn't come with one ($110, separately).
