Android users take note: Indian Government raises alarm for Google Pixel, Samsung, and OnePlus
Delhi : A severe warning has been issued by the Indian government to all Android users, including those who possess smartphones from major manufacturers like Google, Samsung, Oppo, and OnePlus.
Can you identify the weaknesses?
"These vulnerabilities exist in Android OS due to flaws in Framework, System, Google Play system updates, Arm components, MediaTek components, Unisoc components, Qualcomm components and Qualcomm closed-source components," according to the CERT-IN report.
Of primary significance are two vulnerabilities, designated as CVE-2023-4863 and CVE-2023-4211. According to the CIA, attackers are aggressively taking advantage of these.
According to the warning, earlier Android OS versions are more susceptible to being used as an attack for these vulnerabilities. According to CERT-IN, they can be quite dangerous as they allow hackers access to private user information, the capacity to run any code, file access, and whole device control.
For what reason was the warning given?
A government department stated that some vulnerabilities in Android might provide criminals with important information. Users of Android 11, 12, and 13 are advised to use caution in light of this warning.
The Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN) found the vulnerabilities.
To prevent issues, CERT-IN has recommended that all owners of Android smartphones running Android versions 11, 12, and 13 upgrade their devices as soon as possible. Due to storage or data limits, a lot of users frequently fail to install updates on their cellphones in a timely manner.
