Delhi : The Apple Watch has been credited with saving many lives in the past by users. An individual's heart rate is continually tracked by the Watch, which notifies the wearer if anything is off. The Apple Watch has frequently been credited by users with saving their lives by detecting anomalies in their heartbeat. A 29-year-old lady claimed she owed her life to the Apple Watch after it prevented her from experiencing a tragic occurrence in another case when the Watch saved the day.

Woman's life is saved by the Apple Watch

According to a Local12 article, 29-year-old Kimmie Watkins was taking a nap when her Apple Watch notified her of her abnormally high heart rate. Her heart rate had risen to 178 beats per minute while she was sleeping. She had been feeling light-hearted and woozy before this. "I'm very lucky and that, if my nap hadn't ended, that my partner would have found me, maybe asleep on the couch, not actually sleeping instead of what did happen," she said to the newspaper.

"I was sleeping for about an hour and a half before my watch woke me up with this alarm that said that my heart rate had been too high for too long," she said. It was therefore too high for more than 10 minutes. According to the article, Watkins was diagnosed with a potentially fatal blood clot known as a saddle pulmonary embolism when she visited the doctor.

According to Dr. Richard Becker, a cardiologist at the University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine, "a saddle pulmonary embolism is the most severe and life-threatening of all, because it's a blood clot that saddles both the blood vessel to the right lung and to the left lung." Watkins is currently taking blood thinners and recovering her stamina.

Apple introduces improvements for mental health

Apple, on the other hand, doesn't want to limit the idea of wellness to only physical health. The firm highlighted the value of mental health at the WWDC 2023 conference earlier Apple month and unveiled new watchOS 10 health capabilities. As a result, in the future, the Apple Watch will be capable of far more than merely tracking physical wellness.

Users of the watchOS 20 Mindfulness app will be able to track their emotions by interacting with "engaging, multidimensional shapes." From very pleasurable to very unpleasant, these emotions are possible. Users will be able to detect the experience and consider their feelings by choosing how they feel. Additionally, Apple Watch owners will be able to choose the potential causes of these emotions.

According to Apple, these new capabilities allow users of the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch worldwide take better care of their mental health while also promoting awareness and acceptance of this crucial subject. The company further stated that all health and fitness information would be encrypted to guarantee that users' privacy will not be jeopardised in any manner.
