Delhi : Apple has high expectations for the next iOS 18 software upgrade, to the extent that it may serve as a major selling point for the iPhone lineup for the following year. The situation has become so urgent that Apple was forced to halt work on all of its next software versions for a week in order to fix issues. Apple, however, appears unfazed and has some significant additions planned for the upcoming iOS version.

Apple has described iOS 18 as "ambitious and compelling" inside. The goal is for iOS 18 to arrive with a tonne of new features and designs in addition to notable security and performance enhancements.

Although the precise new features of iOS 18 are yet unknown, Gurman claims that it will launch after a few years of releasing reasonably sized upgrades for owners of iPhones and iPads. It may be argued that iOS 14, which was launched in 2020, was the most recent major upgrade for the iPhone. Apple is reportedly working on some generative AI features for the next iOS 18. The details on how it will benefit the final users are unknown, though.

There won't be a delay in the delivery of iOS 18

The final release of iOS 18 won't be substantially delayed by the one-week development halt. The worst-case situation is that there won't be as much time for the business to handle any last-minute problems before to launch. Apple put a hold on the development of macOS 15 and iOS 15 in order to fix any possible issues. The next milestone won't start for another week because of this debugging gap, which gives software engineers more time to work on problem fixes.

Similar decisions were taken by Apple in 2019 when they redesigned processes in response to issues and feature delays that occurred on launch day.

Before the June Worldwide Developers Conference, there are usually four milestones in a software development cycle. The debugging break allowed for an additional week to be allocated to problem fixes in this cycle.
