Elon Musk announces $8 per month fee for blue tick on Twitter

New Delhi : Twitter's new CEO Elon Musk has announced that the famous micro-blogging website Twitter will now charge a monthly fee of $8 if anybody wants blue tick on his/her account.

"Twitter's current lords and peasants system for who has or doesn't have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month," Mr Musk tweeted.

He also claimed that the definition of blue tick will change as it will give more power to the one who have it.

"You will also get: Priority in replies, mentions and search, which is essential to defeat spam/scam. Ability to post long video and audio. Half as many ads. And paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with us," Mr Musk, who is also the chief executive of Tesla Motors, tweeted.

Elon Musk recently took over the company and since then there have been reports which claimed that users will have to pay a fees for having a blue tick, a news that is now verified by Mr Musk himself.
