Delhi : Gmail serves as the main form of communication for many individuals, including ourselves, in the office and in their professional lives. On a daily basis, we spend the majority of our time frantically moving the laptop touchpad from "Compose email" to "Forward email." Years of repetition have made it second nature, yet it is still incredibly inefficient, especially when we need to send/reply to a lot of emails quickly. Therefore, it came as no surprise to us when we tested Gmail's keyboard shortcuts for the first time. The directions are quite straightforward, and the time it takes to complete the task is drastically reduced.

Turn on Gmail keyboard shortcuts first:

You must activate these shortcuts before you can begin using them. However, the procedure is quite easy. If not already, visit Gmail and log in. Next, look for the Settings gear icon at the top of the window. 

To locate Keyboard shortcuts, go to "See all settings" and scroll down. Simply choose "keyboard shortcuts on" after that. Save your changes by moving to the bottom. I'm done now. You may now put them to use.

  1. Compose an email: Don't waste the few seconds it takes to find and move the pointer to the prominent "Compose" symbol in the upper left corner. Simply press C to bring up a new email window. 
  2. Send emails: Sending emails is just as easy as writing them. On a Mac, simply hit Command + Enter. It will be Ctrl + Enter on Windows. 
  3. Forward emails: To forward an email while it is open, simply hit the F key. 
  4. Respond to an email: Press R to respond to the most recent respondent when you are in an email thread. Simply hit A to reply to everyone. 
  5. Mute a thread: Are you being distracted by a certain email thread? To silence an email, simply open it and hit M.
