Inside scoop on the 2023 Mahindra Thar 4x2 entry-level variant, here are the details

Delhi : A two-door Mahindra Thar 2WD model after discovering information about the five-door Mahindra Thar, which is already under development. The lower-spec Mahindra Thar 4x2 variant's technical details have now been posted online, verifying the report.

Previously, 4x4 was a requirement for all Thar models, which raised the price of the car because of the off-roading equipment. As a result, many customers who wanted Thar but didn't need an off-roader had to settle for the more expensive models.

There are presently two engine choices for the Mahindra Thar: a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a 2.2-liter diesel engine.  The 2WD entry-level Thar will be equipped with a smaller 1.5-liter diesel engine that generates 115 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. The Mahindra XUV300 also has access to this engine.

The Mahindra Thar is now available for between Rs 13.59 lakh and Rs 16.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV would have access to a reduced tax rate if this two-door Thar with 2WD is made available, bringing down the cost to about Rs 10 lakh.

Notably, it was predicted that the base Mahindra Thar will cost less than the incoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny. It would be fascinating to observe how the brands battle for market domination now that a lower-spec 2WD Thar is on the way.
